Preliminary Announcement
THE ONE REALITY CONFERENCE
Honolulu, Hawai‘i, Summer 2011

The Honolulu-based All Believers Network, in cooperation with other like-minded organizations in Hawai‘i and elsewhere, is pleased to announce its One Reality, One Humanity, Converging Paths Conference, to be held in Honolulu, Hawai‘i, in Summer, 2011.  This follows up on the Hawai‘i Legislature’s 2008 concurrent resolution supporting interfaith dialogue, and the enthusiastic interest in this conference expressed by some 110 participants crowded in a room with 80 chairs in a session on Exploring the Universality of God’s Religion at the Parliament of World’s Religion’s meeting in Melbourne, Australia in December 2009.

The conference’s key discussion points envisaged are:

  • Results of our international survey on how followers of various religions perceive that which is sacred and holy;

  • The common human prayers, celebrations and aspirations at birth, wedding and death;

  • The common belief in a transcendental power; and

  • Scientific findings on our inter-connectedness and in the power of meditation regardless of religion.

The conference’s key products envisaged are:

  • Planning follow-up activities in selected areas torn apart by inter-religious conflict;

  • Developing curricula to inculcate leadership, management and communication skills and to foster interfaith perspective in religious leaders, youth and children; and

  • Promoting interfaith understanding through poetry and other creative and performing arts by adults and children.

We welcome expressions of interest in: (1) co-sponsoring and participating in the conference; (2) contributing through papers, cultural/religious/creative presentations, and sharing of local experiences promoting the Universality of God’s religion; and (3) participating in the abovementioned curriculum development effort.  We’d like to schedule this conference at a time most convenient to majority of potential participants.  Thus, please also let us know, by June 30, 2010, what dates during May-September 2011 period will work best for you, and those which might work the least.  Your response will help us decide the conference venue, duration and dates.

Please also share this with other appropriate individuals and organizations.  Mahalo!
